Signs of Spring

A quick pre-work visit to Rishton Reservoir this-morning produced my irst inland Skylark of the year calling overhead as it headed north. There were six Mute Swans on the water and a flock of 22 Curlew on teh far bank. The water level has dropped again - goodness knows why they're taking water out of it unles there's some major canal work/leak. At least this is providing a nice edge to the west bank which may entice an LRP in teh coming weeks (whilst I'm away in Cuba).

The weekend brought more Lesser Redpolls to the niger seed feeders and loads of unringed Chaffinches feeding up ready for their move north.
